DAYTON, Ohio -- Thanks to 13 kills from sophomores Brittani Gray (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) and Sabel Moffett (Temecula, Calif./Chaparral), Northwestern got back on track with a 3-0 victory (25-19, 27-25, 25-21) over Cleveland State (1-4) at the Flyer Tournament. The Wildcats improve to 2-2 on the season and improve to 3-0 all-time against the Vikings.

Coming off a tough five-set lost to Dayton Friday night, NU controlled the first set against the Vikings from the outset, jumping out to a 7-3 advantage and leading by as many as six before cruising to the 25-19 win. Senior Chelsy Hyser (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere) and Moffett each recorded five kills in the opening set while Gray tallied four of her own. Junior Kate Nobilio (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) registered seven digs while sophomore Elyse Glab (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) added 14 assists.

Set two saw the `Cats jump out to an 8-4 lead, only to see Cleveland State rally to take a 13-10 advantage. Tied 25-25 late, Moffett notched a block assist and a set-winning kill to give the Wildcats a 2-0 edge. Moffett recorded five kills, with Gray, Hyser and sophomore Naomi Johnson (Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) each adding three. Glab again had 14 assists for NU while Nobilio led the way in digs once again with nine.

With another match looming on the horizon, the Wildcats made quick work of the Vikings in the third set, jumping out to a 15-7 lead before holding off a fierce Cleveland State rally, taking the set 25-21 to complete the sweep. Gray came up big with six kills and was complimented by four from Hyser and three from Moffett.

In addition to the 13 kills from Gray and Moffett, Hyser added 12 of her own to pace the Wildcat attack. Glab continued her stellar play with 44 assists while Nobilio recorded 17 digs on the afternoon.

Northwestern concludes their stay at the Flyer Invitational facing Towson (5-1) at 4 p.m. The `Cats are 3-0 all-time against the Tigers including a 3-0 victory last season at the Georgetown Tournament.
