EVANSTON, Ill. -- In the first day of action at the Wildcat Fall Invitational, Northwestern posted three wins in both singles and doubles. The pair of Peter Rispoli (Naples, Fla./St. Stephen's (Texas)) and Joshua Graves (Milwaukee, Wis./Nicolet) posted two wins and are in the semifinals of Flight A.
In Flight A Singles, Andrew McCarthy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill) and Alexander Thams (Stockholm, Sweden/ Enskilda Gymnasiet) posted wins. Thams is now an undefeated 4-0 during the fall season having won the Milwaukee Tennis Classic last weekend.
In Flight B Singles, Philip Kafka (Dallas, Texas/Greenhill) also advanced to the Round of 16 to join teammates Rispoli and Tobias Reitz (Reinbeck, Germany/Sachsenwaldschule Reinbeck), who received first round byes.
Graves and Eric Spector (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) both look to rebound from opening round losses in the consolation bracket of Flight A singles. Both lost tight matches that each featured a tiebreak.
On Saturday, two rounds of singles and one round of doubles will be played. Play begins with Flight A singles action at 8 am at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center.
