Wildcats Set For Evening Contest At Milwaukee

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Before welcoming a pair of Big Ten foes to Lakeside Field this weekend, the Wildcats will make the short trip North for a contest against the Milwaukee Panthers at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Northwestern (5-2-1) is again receiving votes in the latest NSCAA poll and sits sixth in the Great Lakes Region. Milwaukee is also receiving votes and is ranked third in the region with a 7-1-2 record.

Last Time Out
Northwestern took control of play early on with a barrage of corner kicks and shots in the first half against Saint Louis, but the Billikens were able to neutralize the NU attack and earn a 0-0 result Sunday at Lakeside Field

Northwestern finished the game with a 12-4 edge in shots, but NU's lead in the category was 5-4 during the second half and two overtime periods. The Wildcats held a 13-1 edge in corners, 3-1 after halftime. Carolyn Edwards made three saves to pick up her third shutout of the season.

Scouting the Panthers
With a 7-1-2 record, Milwaukee is receiving votes in the latest NSCAA poll and is ranked third in the Great Lakes Region. The Panthers have out scored their opponents, 23-11, and have out shot their opponents, 146-108. Sarah Hagen leads the team with 10 goals and 21 points through 10 matches. Kate Megna is another offensive weapon with four goals to go with five assists. Erin Kane has started all 10 games between the posts and has four shutouts along with a 1.05 GAA. Like the Wildcats, most of the Panthers' goals have been scored in the second half with 16 of the teams 23 coming after the break.

After the road trip to Milwaukee, Northwestern returns home for the start of Big Ten season. The 'Cats welcome Purdue to Lakeside Field at 7 p.m. Friday and then 17th-ranked Illinois at noon Sunday.
