Volleyball Welcomes Back Students with Biggest Chipotle Match Ever

EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern Volleyball team welcomed students back to campus in a big way last Saturday with the biggest Chipotle BIG Game/Match since its inception in 2004. The Wildcats encouraged NU students to come to Welsh-Ryan Arena immediately following the Football team's victory over the Ohio Bobcats in Ryan Field for their chances to eat fresh Chipotle burritos, win Chipotle burrito coupons and cheer on the `Cats in this huge match up with the fourth-ranked UCLA Bruins.
Students were welcomed to the match with a spread of Chipotle burritos accompanied by chips and salsa. NU students then registered for the Big Match raffle where they had the chance to win Chipotle coupons every five minutes beginning at 2:30 pm and until the start of the match at 4 pm.
The giveaway extravaganza continued into the match with three NU students winning 50 Chipotle coupons each after the first set. In all, over 700 Chipotle coupons were given away to NU students on Saturday. The grand prize of the day was given away during intermission when freshman Aaron Kahn's name was called as the winner of free textbooks for the fall quarter. Kahn was chosen from the 172 NU students in attendance, which set the record for student attendance at a Chipolte Big Game/Match for all sports. This attendance broke the previous Big Game record of 82, which was set at the Wildcat Softball game in April 2006.
The BIG Game concept was created by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in the Fall of 2004 to encourage student-athletes to attend each others contests. It started as an athletic department initiative, but expanded to include the entire student body in 2005. Chipotle has supported the BIG Game since its inception, and became the official sponsor in February of 2006. At each BIG Game, the first 50 Northwestern students receive a coupon for a FREE Chipotle burrito and have a chance to win a quarter's supply of Chipotle burritos during the game. (Note: Football does not have an official BIG Game, but there are chances to win Chipotle burritos during hafltime of every home game.)
Your next chances to attend a Chipotle BIG Game are Women's Soccer on Saturday, October 4 at 4 pm and Men's Soccer on Friday, October 17 at 7 pm.
