Wildcats Complete Day One of Milwaukee Tennis Classic

ELM GROVE, Wis. -- In the first day of competition at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, Northwestern was undefeated (7-0) in singles against Wisconsin and went 2-1 in doubles against Ball State.
The 'Cats started off the morning with singles play against Wisconsin. Alex Sanborn (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid), Eric Spector (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) and Joshua Graves (Milwaukee, Wis./Nicolet) cruised to straight set victories. Alexander Thams (Stockholm, Sweden/Enskilda Gymnasiet), Andrew McCarthy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hills), Tobias Reitz (Reinbeck, Germany/Sachsenwaldschule Reinbeck) and Philip Kafka (Dallas, Texas/Greenhill) also pulled out wins for the Wildcats.
Northwestern then faced Ball State in doubles action, winning two of three matches. Spector and Thams quickly dispatched of the Ball State duo of Shaun Bussert and Dave Thomas with an 8-1 victory. Sanborn and Reitz pulled out a 9-7 victory while Graves and McCarthy fell, 8-4, to the team of Eduardo Pavi and Andrew Monroy.
The Wildcats are back on the court Saturday at 9 a.m. in singles action against Marquette.
