EVANSTON, Ill. -- Head coach Pat Fitzgerald served as guest conductor for "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the Seventh-Inning Stretch at Wrigley Field last Sunday. Fitzgerald threw out the first pitch, and after his musical performance, joined the T.V. booth for the bottom of the inning.
Before the game between the Cubs and Marlins, Fitzgerald met fans at Mullen's Bar and Grill on Clark. Fans received schedule mugs and other Wildcat giveaways. NU's Director of Athletics, Jim Phillips, was also on hand to chat with Wildcat fans.
After Mullen's, Fitzgerald headed to Wrigley Field where he threw out the first pitch. After a radio interview with WGN in the sixth inning, Fitzgerald headed to the T.V. booth to sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the seventh-inning stretch. The Wildcat coach stayed in the booth for the bottom of the seventh and talked with Comcast SportsNet's Len Kasper and Bob Brenly about the upcoming season, his induction into the College Football Hall of Fame and other topics.
The Cubs scored four runs with Fitzgerald in the booth, spearheaded by a Derrek Lee home run and a Mike Fontenot triple.
