EVANSTON, Ill. -- The dates for two annual golf outings -- the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Randy Walker Power of Influence and Northwestern Gridiron Network (NGN) Walker Open -- are set for this summer.
The NGN's annual golf outing, The Walker Open, is slated for Monday, July 14 at the Royal Melbourne Country Club in Long Grove, Ill. This year's event, which helps raise money for Northwestern's football program, is the second to carry the Walker moniker.
The Randy Walker Power of Influence Outing sponsored by the AFCA is being held Monday, June 30, at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Ill.
In 2006, the AFCA initiated the "Crossing the Goal Line Campaign," to raise a minimum of $5 million over a three-year period to expand their involvement with youth across the country. The Campaign kicked off with a golf outing in the Chicago metro area in July 2006 before being named for NU's former coach in 2007.
Times and entry fees for both events will be announced in the near future. For more information on either event, please contact Northwestern's athletic development office at 847-491-3694.
