EVANSTON, Ill. -- Freshman Michelle Batts (Bloomingdale, Ill./Glenbard North) has been named the Big Ten's Co-Player of the Week, the conference office has announced. The honor is the first of her career.

Batts had a monstrous week, clubbing three home runs and a pair of doubles, batting .583 for the week with a 1.500 slugging percentage. She drove in nine runs (3.0 per game). In a midweek game Thursday against Loyola (Chicago), Batts was a perfect 3-for-3 with two home runs, a double, three runs scored and five RBIs. Her 10 total bases in the game tied the Northwestern single-game record.

Saturday at No. 24 Ohio State, Batts was 3-for-5 in the first game of a doubleheader, ripping a double and driving in a pair of runs. In the second game of the double dip, Batts launched a two-run home run for her third four-bagger in three games on the week.
