EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Northwestern shot a final-round 15-over 303 Sunday at Forest Akers West Golf Course to finish the tournament tied with Ohio State for sixth place at the 89th Big Ten Championships.

The Wildcats concluded the 72-hole tournament with a total of 44-over 1,196 (293-298-309-303) to fall into the tie with the Buckeyes, who shot the second-best total of the day with a 4-over 292.

Michigan State won the 2008 Big Ten title with a 21-over 1,173, four strokes better than Minnesota. Northwestern and Ohio State finished three strokes ahead of eighth-place Wisconsin and two strokes behind fifth-place Michigan.

Sophomore David Lipsky (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) led NU on Sunday with a 2-over 74, finishing in a tie with teammate Jonathan Bowers (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) for 13th place overall in the individual standings with a 72-hole total of 10-over 298.

Lipsky began the tournament at 1-under par after rounds of 72 and 71 on Friday, but a 9-over 81 in Saturday's third round dropped him out of title contention. Bowers was even par after Friday with a first round 1-under 71 and second-round 1-over 73 before carding scores of 4-over 76 Saturday and 6-over 78 on Sunday.

Senior Kyle Moore (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Scioto) had NU's second-best total of Sunday with a 3-over 75, finishing 20th overall with a 72-hole total of 13-over 301 (73-75-78-75).

Freshman Josh Dupont (Poway, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) finished in 31st place overall with a 16-over 304 (79-72-77-76), while senior Dan Doyle (Rochester, Mich./Stoney Creek) ended up 45th after carding a 25-over 313 (77-76-78-82).
