No. 13 Northwestern Hosts Indiana and Purdue This Weekend

EVANSTON, Ill. -- With half of the Big Ten season in the books, No. 13 Northwestern returns home to kick off part two against Indiana and Purdue at Sharon J. Drysdale Field.
The Wildcats and Hoosiers face off at 4 p.m. CT Friday and noon CT Saturday at Sharon J. Drysdale Field before the 'Cats take on the Boilermakers in a twinbill beginning at noon CT Sunday. Indiana is 10th in the conference standings with a 2-8 record, while Purdue is fourth at 5-3.
With the first three weekends of Big Ten play complete and three more to go, both Northwestern and Michigan sit atop the standings with one loss each. The Wolverines rank first in percentage with an 11-1 record, while the Wildcats are 9-1 after already having its open date in the league slate. Iowa is in third place, two games back in the loss column with a 7-3 record.
Northwestern has won 11 of its last 12 games, including a perfect 6-0 mark at home. In those six games, the Wildcats have launched 11 homers and averaged 8.3 runs per game. Last year at the halfway point of the conference season the Wildcats were 7-2 with one canceled game.
Northwestern has had much recent success against both Indiana and Purdue, winning its last six meetings with the Hoosiers dating to 2004 and its last seven versus Purdue going back to 2003. NU has been downright dominant against the Boilermakers, outscoring them 37-4 with five shutouts in those seven games. NU has outscored IU 52-11 durings its current six-game winning streak.
This weekend is Women's Sport Weekend presented by the N Club at Northwestern, with softball's game at 4 p.m. Friday against Indiana kicking off the festivities. Highlights of the weekend include a welcome tailgate; an alumni and student-athlete networking session; and an Alumni Dinner Saturday night with Anucha Browne Sanders as the keynote speaker. Wildcat legend, three-time All-American and former NCAA single-season strikeout record holder Lisa Ishikawa-Sliwa will throw out the first pitch at Sunday's softball DH versus Purdue.

Live streaming video will be available at NUsports.com for Friday and Saturday's games against Indiana, but NOT for Sunday's double-dip with Purdue due to a simultaneous lacrosse game. Student radio WNUR 89.3 FM will broadcast Friday's game live, while it will stream audio of Sunday's Purdue series on its Web site at sports.wnur.org.
