Northwestern Travels To Wisconsin For Big Ten Match

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern travels to Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin to resume Big Ten play at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8. The 71st-ranked Wildcats (6-8, 0-2) are looking for victory in their last match before a two-week hiatus.
In its previous dual on March 4, Northwestern was defeated by Vanderbilt at the Combe Tennis Center, 6-1.
Wisconsin (5-5, 0-0) opens up its Big Ten schedule this weekend against the Wildcats. The 62nd-ranked Badgers are coming off a 6-1 victory over Marquette on February 20.
Northwestern has competed in six dual matches on the road this season, with its sole victory a 6-1 decision at Ball State. Each of the Wildcats' losses this season has come against opponents ranked nationally, including four against Top 25 teams. The 'Cats are currently ranked eighth in the Big Ten.
Sophomore captain Alex Sanborn (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid) continues his success at singles play, picking up the sole point for Northwestern at No. 2 against Vanderbilt, 7-6 (4), 1-6, 1-0 (4). Sanborn remains unbeaten (3-0) from No. 4 this season and has excelled at No. 3, where he is currently 5-1.
Northwestern will travel to Beaumont, Texas for its next match against Lamar at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 25.
