Northwestern Hosts Big Ten Leader Purdue on Saturday

EVANSTON, Ill. -
Northwestern welcomes Big Ten leader Purdue to Welsh-Ryan Arena Saturday afternoon for a 3 p.m. tip. The Boilermakers enter play this weekend one game up in the loss column over Wisconsin and Indiana. The game is being televised by Big Ten Network with Matt Devlin and Tim Doyle on the call.
The game can also be heard on WGN Radio (720 AM) with Dave Eanet and Shon Morris.
Series History: Purdue leads, 113-41. The Wildcats have won five of the last seven games with Purdue, though the Boilermakers won both meetings between the teams last season.
Last Meeting: David Teague scored a game-high 23 points for Purdue in its 73-50 win over the Wildcats March 3, 2007 in the regular season finale.
Last Time Out
Craig Moore scored 15 points and had five assists, but a second-half run by Ohio State helped it earn a 65-47 victory at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Kosta Koufos scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while Othello Hunter added 14 points for the Buckeyes. Moore's jumper capped a 9-2 run and gave Northwestern a 19-18 advantage with nine minutes left before the break. Ohio State would reclaim a seven-point advantage late in the half before Moore nailed a trey with five seconds left to cut the Buckeyes' lead to 29-25 going into the intermission. The Wildcats were within 35-34 before Ohio State made its move. The Buckeyes' ensuing 19-4 run proved to be the difference. Jeremy Nash continued his solid play for Northwestern, scoring nine points, grabbing eight rebounds and nabbing three of the Wildcats' 14 steals. Michael Thompson contributed 12 points for NU. The Wildcats forced 18 Ohio State turnovers, with Kevin Coble recording a career-high five steals.
Hall of Famers to Be Recognized
Northwestern is recognizing its newest inductees into its Athletics Hall of Fame at halftime of Saturday's game. This year's class consists of Darnell Autry (football), Amy Kekeisen Fedorchak (field hockey), Dave Pemberton (swimming), Amy Prichard (women's basketball) and honorary inductee Dr. Howard Sweeney (team physician). Formal induction ceremonies were held last night at the Allen Center on the Northwestern University campus. Kim Paton Fromberg (women's swimming), a 2006-07 inductee will also be recognized.
Scouting Purdue
Purdue (20-5, 11-1) is alone in first place in the Big Ten standings and has won 10 consecutive games.
The Boilermakers are ranked No. 19 in the most recent Associated Press poll and are coming off a 60-54 home win over 10th-ranked Michigan State on Tuesday.
Freshman guard Robbie Hummel is the reigning Big Ten Player of the Week and had 24 points and 11 rebounds in the win over the Spartans. Fellow frosh E'Twaun Moore earned the same honor the previous week.
Purdue leads the Big Ten with a +4.76 turnover margin. Hummel is first in the conference with a .474 3-point field goal percentage.
