SAN ANTONIO -- Northwestern put in a full day's work and fun Friday as the Valero Alamo Bowl continues to creep closer. After a morning workout at Trinity University, the Wildcats visited SeaWorld followed by Malibu Castle for some go karts and miniature golf.
Northwestern's Friday morning practice consisted of 11 periods in only helmets, dialing back the intensity of the previous couple of workouts. Head coach Pat Fitzgerald remarked that he really liked the team's focus following the session.
After lunch the team boarded buses to SeaWorld, where the Wildcats partook in some rides, roller coasters and shows -- including watching the world-famous Shamu. Eight 'Cats had the experience of a lifetime when they were permitted to interact with Beluga Whales. View a photo gallery of SeaWorld and the Belugas here.
While the coaches attended the annual Valero Alamo Bowl Coaches dinner, the players went to Malibu Castle for go-karting and miniature golf.
The Wildcats will hold their final practice from 11 a.m. to approximately 12:30 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 27. In the evening beginning at 6:15 p.m., barges with both teams will proceed down the Riverwalk for the Team Pep Rally and Rudy's Bar-B-Q Fiesta.
