SAN ANTONIO -- Merry Christmas from the Alamodome! Northwestern moved inside Thursday for its first workout on the Alamo Bowl turf before partaking in a tremendous Christmas lunch at its Hyatt Regency headquarters hotel.

Wearing shells and shorts, the Wildcats went through a 15-period practice that head coach Pat Fitzgerald termed "fantastic" in his closing remarks to the team. The workout was the first time every single player on the team had been in the Alamodome, which is primed and ready for the 2008 Alamo Bowl on Dec. 29.

The Wildcats and their coaching staff, support staff and families gathered for a large Christmas lunch following practice. The group enjoyed turkey and ham along with plentiful side dishes and holiday desserts. Santa and Mrs. Claus made an appearance toward the end of the meal, posing for pictures with the young children of the staff in addition to a number of Wildcat players.

Northwestern returns to the practice field at Trinity University tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 26. Following practice at 12:30 p.m., head coach Pat Fitzgerald along with offensive captains C.J. Bachér and Eric Peterman will be available to the media. At 1 p.m., defensive coordinator Mike Hankwitz along with John Gill, Corey Wootton, Brad Phillips and Kevin Mims will be available at the NU Defensive Press Conference at the Marriott Riverwalk media hotel.

In closing, Northwestern would like to wish its family and fans a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!
