Alamo Bowl Week Day 3: Full-Pad Practice

SAN ANTONIO -- Northwestern donned full pads and played full-tilt in its second South Texas practice Wednesday morning, going hard in a Christmas Eve workout at Trinity University before the players received the rest of the day off.
The Wildcats worked through a typical Tuesday game-week practice, going 18 periods under sunny skies and temperatures in the 60's. Coach Pat Fitzgerald and several players kept the "juice" flowing and the intensity high throughout the morning.
"Tuesday during game week is a physical day for us and I thought we did a good job," Fitzgerald said. "We definitely prepared physically today and brought the intensity up."
After practice while speaking with the San Antonio Express-News, senior Prince Kwateng agreed with Coach Fitz.
"There was a little bit of hitting, everyone loves to hit on this team," Kwateng said. "We pride ourselves on being trying to be physical. Monday will be a great chance for us to continue playing that way."
Senior Tyrell Sutton also chimed in on the physicality of Tuesday's practice.
"Some of the guys don't really want to hit me yet, but I tell them all the time that if I'm out there, just hit me," Sutton said. "Missouri is not going to take it easy on us so there is no point in beating around the bush. I definitely took a few hits today."
Northwestern's players and staff have the rest of Christmas Eve off before reconvening for a Christmas Day practice at the Alamodome. The two hour workout is a closed session.
"We've only played in one dome this year, and not one man in the program has ever been in the Alamodome before, myself included," Fitzgerald said. "To get in there and get the feel of the facility and actually go through a practice instead of just a walk-through will be good. I know the guys are excited to get in there."
The Wildcat family also will have a Christmas Brunch tomorrow afternoon.
