Keegan Kennedy Blog #13
San Antonio here we come. It is a great feeling knowing that we get to leave freezing Evanston and head down to sunny San Antonio. Everyone is really excited to get down to Texas and continue with our preparation for the Missouri Tigers. We finished up with our Evanston preparation Saturday. We practiced at a fast tempo and got a lot of work done. We are confident in our game plan and are looking forward to touching some things up when we get down there.
At the end of our practice on Saturday, we had an extended "D" squad bowl game. It was a scrimmage between the young guys on both sides of the ball. It was really great to see the young guys continue to get after it. Hunter Bates stood out the most in the scrimmage with his bone jarring hit on a swing pass. It has been nice being able to practice hard and then take a step back to watch the younger guys have some fun. You get to learn a lot about the freshman class in regards to what kind of football player each kid is. It is also great to watch them scrimmage because as an older guy you can take some time out of practice to really work on fundamentals and other characteristics of being a Division I football player with the younger players. I was really impressed with the young guys of our team and how hard they have worked so far.
The `Cats will be flying down to San Antonio in suits. We are wearing suits to remind us why we are going. Yes, we are going to have tons of fun down there. I have heard so many good things about the Alamo Bowl and everyone down there who makes it such an enjoyable experience. But, it is imperative that we remember we are going on a business trip and that our purpose of the trip is to win. I have the utmost confidence in the maturity of our program to understand our mission and to do everything in our power to complete it. Thanks for reading. Go Cats!
