SAN ANTONIO -- During Northwestern's first full day in San Antonio Tuesday, the Wildcats conducted their first Texas-style bowl practice, visited a Children's Hospital and will attend the San Antonio Spurs' game against Minnesota.
After overnight drizzle and with fog hanging low in the sky, Northwestern conducted a brisk 10-period practice in 40 degree temperatures at Trinity University Tuesday morning. Afterwards several Wildcats along with head coach Pat Fitzgerald visited with local media, which turned out in force for the second-straight day to cover the 'Cats. View a photo gallery of the practice session here.
Incidentally, Trinity is the school that won the 2007 Pontiac Game-Changing Performance of the Year after a 15-lateral final play touchdown to defeat Millsaps, 28-24, on Oct. 27 in Jackson, Miss.
After lunch, Fitzgerald and 12 players made a visit to CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children's Hospital to spread some holiday cheer to the patients and their families. The group made its way through several different wings with the players and Coach posing for pictures with their new friends.
Northwestern also will take in some NBA action tonight, checking out the Spurs' and Timberwolves' showdown to complete a very full day in San Antonio.
