FINALS ARE OVER! Well, at least for me they are. The Astronomy film didn't go exactly as according to plan, but I think a lot of the other students who took the final feel the same way and hopefully the curve will help out. Anyway, it feels great to be done with studying and writing papers. This is where my true Christmas Break begins. Not only do I get to head down to Texas with my brothers on the team and compete to be champions of the Alamo Bowl, but I also get to be with my teammates for an extra three weeks. During these three weeks, we will be practicing and getting better and also be able to participate in a bunch of fun activities. Before I took the final today I was sitting in the LR2 room in Tech. Now, the LR2 room is a huge auditorium where big classes have lectures. As I was preparing for the exam, some non athlete students noticed my football shirt and started asking questions about the bowl and the experience that goes along with it. One of the questions they asked that caught me off guard was "aren't you a little sad you are not going to be home for Christmas with your family?" I hesitated for a second and thought, what are you talking about, I will be with my family. As cliché as that sounds, it is a true statement. Sure, I love my immediate family and will do anything for them. My mom, dad, my two brothers, my grandmothers, my cousins, and my crazy aunts and uncles will be making it down to the game and they will be cheering their hearts out. But, as of right now, in my last month of being a Northwestern Wildcat Football Player, there is no group of individuals I would rather be with than my teammates. I will have the rest of my life to be with my immediate family, but as a Wildcat, I will only have a couple more practices, a couple more training tables, a couple more locker room showers, a couple more carpools to the stadium, and only one more game. And the only present that I want this year can only be given to me by the 'Cats: a win.

Enough with emotional stuff. After my final today, I headed back to my house where I found about ten burgers, ten steaks, ten polish sausages, five pounds of chicken, and about five pounds of prime rib defrosting. I went upstairs and asked Fry (Kevin Frymire) what the deal was? Fry replied that we would be having a "meat" party tonight. Fry elaborated. He said that over the past couple of months of not cooking because of being so tired from the grind of the season, he had stockpiled quite a lot of extra meat. So, he decided that since he is also done with finals, it would be a good idea to eat a bunch of meat tonight for dinner. It is only 4:15 right now, so I got about another two hours before our feast really begins, but about every thirty minutes or so, I head down to the kitchen to make sure that no one is messing with the meat. It is up to John Gill, Kurt Mattes, Fry and myself to put a big dent in all the meat we are cooking tonight.

On another note, I invited a couple of the O lineman (ones who are done with finals) and Dinard, over tonight to kick back, watch some TV, and play some video games. It will be nice just to chill out and relax. We will be playing the video game Rock Band. As much fun as it is, there is no doubt that arguments will break out over disputes like: Who is the best singer, drummer, and who can play the guitar the best. I should mention however, that they will be coming over after we eat our meat and that we will make no mention of all the meat that we have. In fact, we have actually already found the perfect spot to hide our left over meat in the Frig. Thanks for reading. GO Cats!
