EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's University Archives has digitized and made available for viewing online three historic football films from past Wildcats' action. The Archives houses hundreds of game films and videos in its collection, and more may be made available in digital format in the future.
Currently available are Northwestern's homecoming game against Indiana from 1929, its 1940 homecoming and Dad's Day matchup against Minnesota, and a 1943 contest versus Great Lakes featuring college football legend and Hall of Famer Otto Graham. The 1929 game is the oldest football film in the Archives' collection.
Each page featuring digitized game film on the Archives' Web site also contains scanned documents pertaining to the games, including program information, rosters and team photographs.
To check out the vintage Northwestern football footage, link to Northwestern University Archives. The videos also appear on Northwestern's YouTube channel, but without the related historical documents. A permanent link to the videos has been established under the Multimedia heading in the Wildcat Wire on the NUsports.com football page.
