EVANSTON, Ill. -- After a week that saw the opening of NU's brand new Lakeside Field on Wednesday and a pair of 1-1 ties over the weekend, the 'Cats are set to host St. Francis (Pa.) and Wright State in the final non-conference weekend of 2007.

Northwestern enters the weekend on a five-game unbeaten streak and owns a 4-1-2 record, with the two ties coming against Penn and Colgate on Friday and Sunday, respectively.

On Sunday, NU trailed 1-0 in the final minute before sophomore Katherine Sampson (San Francisco, Calif./Drew School) put home the game-tying goal with one second remaining. Senior Shannon Schneeman (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) leads the 'Cats in goals with four and senior Kelsey Hans (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville) leads the way in shots with 30 through seven games. Last week, Hans set NU's all-time career goals record.

Quoting Coach Erickson
"We have two very good teams coming to town this weekend in St. Francis and Wright State," Erickson said. "I feel we have made some very good progress early in the season and we're looking to continue that as we end our non-conference schedule at home this weekend."

Kay's Last-Second Jewel Gives 'Cats 1-1 Tie
Sophomore Katherine Sampson's first career goal came in dramatic fashion against Colgate on Sunday. With NU trailing 1-0 in the final minute, Sampson took a pass from freshman Jennifer Baumann (Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial) and put home the game-tying goal with the clock showing 00:01. Sampson has been active on the offensive end this season, notching a goal and two assists through seven games. Sampson assisted on Kelsey Hans' goal against Penn on Friday.

Hans Solo Atop NU's Goal-Scoring List
With her goal against Loyola on Wednesday, Kelsey Hans passed head coach Stephanie Erickson for first place on NU's all-time goals list. With her 31st career goal on Friday, Hans notched her 73rd career point--putting her in a first-place tie with Erickson for NU's all-time career record.

New Field
The Wildcats began playing their home games at the brand new Lakeside Field last Wednesday. Built adjacent to the existing field, the latest addition to Northwestern's athletic facilities is located along the banks of Lake Michigan, and features a new scoreboard and a state-of-the art playing surface designed by FieldTurf. When completed, it will boast permanent grandstands and a press box.

Sam I Am
Freshman Sam Greene (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica) has seen plenty of the pitch in her first two games in the purple and white. The freshman didn't even need one full game to record her first point as she assisted on Alicia Herczeg's (Agoura Hills, Calif./Agoura) double overtime game-winner against Drake. She scored her first goal of the season against UNC Greensboro on 9/7.
