EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern University today announced its 2007-08 men's basketball nonconference schedule, which begins Thursday, Nov. 15 when the Wildcats welcome the Stanford Cardinal to Welsh-Ryan Arena -- a game televised live on the Big Ten Network. Road games at cross-town rival DePaul and Virginia for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge highlight the rest of slate.

And for the first time in school history, each Northwestern home game will be televised to a national audience on either one of the ESPN networks or the Big Ten Network.

Stanford visits Evanston this year after the Wildcats almost pulled off the come-from-behind win last year in Palo Alto, Calif. The 'Cats erased a double-digit deficit, tying the game in the final minutes before Stanford scored the game's final five points for the win.

For the fourth year in a row, the Wildcats take on DePaul -- this year at All-State Arena in Rosemont, Ill. -- on Saturday, Nov. 17. The home team has won the last six meetings in the series, including NU's 49-39 victory last year in Evanston.

Home dates with Benedictine (Nov. 20) and Brown (Nov. 24) follow before traveling to Charlottesville, Va., to take on the Virginia Cavaliers in the 2007 ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Nov. 27. The meeting will mark the third time the two schools have been paired together in the Challenge after meeting in 2004 and '05. Virginia finished last season with a 21-11 overall record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. It also tied for the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) regular-season championship with an 11-5 conference mark.

The month of December features just four games, beginning with two-straight home games against Savannah State (Dec. 1) and Arkansas State (Dec. 3). Five days later NU will hit the road once again to face Mid-American Conference foe Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, Mich. The month wraps up with a home date against Howard on Dec. 20.

Games at Chicago State (Jan. 16) and home against Texas-Pan American (Jan. 30) complete the nonconference portion of the schedule. An exhibition game with the University of Chicago will be played on Nov. 7 at Welsh-Ryan and televised on the Big Ten Network.

Northwestern is seeking to build on last season's non-league success as the 'Cats set a record with 11 out-of-conference wins and entered Big Ten play with 10 wins for the first time in school history.

Bill Carmody's team returns nearly 65 percent of its scoring from last season, including Kevin Coble who was named to the 2007 Big Ten All-Freshman Team. Coble became the first Wildcat in school history to lead the team in both scoring (13.4) and rebounding (5.2). Also back is junior guard Craig Moore who has hit 113 3-point FG's in his first two seasons.
