Wildcats Shut Out by No. 9 Eagles

EVANSTON, Ill.-- Northwestern allowed two goals in the first 10 minutes of the game to the ninth-ranked American Eagles, which led to a 7-0 loss on Sunday at Lakeside field. The loss drops the Wildcats to 3-4 while American improves to 8-0.
American finished the half on a torrid streak, adding three more goals to its total for a 5-0 halftime lead.
NU (3-4) fought hard in the second half, earning six penalty corners to American's two and took six second half shots, but could not get the ball past the two American keepers, who combined for the shutout.
The Eagles final goals came in the 45th and 56th minutes of the game to cap off the scoring.
Freshman Sarah Marcincin (Bethlehem, Pa./Blair Academy) started the game for the first time in her career and fellow freshman Kendra Sirak (Dallas, Pa./Wyoming Seminary) also saw action in the contest. Senior Elizabeth Gemgnani (Allentown, Pa./Salisbury) saw action for the first time this season in the second half, as well.
For the Eagles, Denise Infante added a goal and an assist. Senior Maggie Hall and junior Irene Schickhardt each scored two goals.
Northwestern goalkeeper Emily Kyle recorded seven saves in goal for the Wildcats
Northwestern picks up action again at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22 against Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich. The game will be broadcast live by the Big Ten Network.
