Box Score

EVANSTON, Ill.-- After a Kent State goal to open the game, Northwestern tied the score at one, but then gave up three-straight goals as the Wildcats fell, 4-1, on Friday at Lakeside Field.

Just over two minutes into the contest, the Golden Flashes (4-2) put a tally on the board, which was quickly responded to on a give-and-go by Wildcat (3-3) forwards Alison Bullock (Boyds, Md./Stone Ridge) and Alex Quinn (Watertown, Mass./Watertown) to even the score.

Following the Bullock's goal, Kent State deflected a goal past `Cats goalkeeper Emily Kyle (San Francisco, Calif./San Francisco University H.S.), then added another score with no time remaining at the end of the first half. The final goal was score in the 60th minute of the game.

On one of NU's three penalty corners, Cassie Miller (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) shot a rocket toward the goal that was saved by the Kent State goalkeeper. In the second half, Bullock and Annie Bosslet (Granite City, Ill./Villa Duchesne (Mo.)) nearly missed on two more strikes that could have put the `Cats back into the game.

With the assist, Quinn moved into second place in the Big Ten in points with 13 on the season. Bullock, meanwhile, scored her fifth goal of the year, which places her in a tie for sixth in the conference and moves her up to second on the team.

NU hosts American University at noon on Sunday at Lakeside Field as a part of Women's Sports Weekend. Kids in eighth grade and under will be permitted to participate in a hit around with the team and an autograph session after the game.
