EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern is set to open its brand new FieldTurf Lakeside Field when women's soccer takes on Loyola (Chicago) at 4 p.m. Wednesday. The new field will be home to NU's women's soccer, men's soccer and women's lacrosse programs. It will also serve as an intramural field for Northwestern students.

The new facility, located along the banks of Lake Michigan, boasts a new scoreboard, and when fully completed, will feature permanent grandstands and a press box.

"The new facility is going to be a fantastic enhancement to our program and will immediately make us more competitive within the Big Ten," head coach Stephanie Erickson said. "The FieldTurf surface is cutting edge and will guarantee an excellent playing surface in all conditions. This new facility will be one of the most beautiful soccer facilities in the nation -- overlooking Lake Michigan, the Chicago skyline in the distance and on the campus of our incredible university."

Series With Loyola
NU holds the 6-1-1 advantage in the all-time series. In 2006, the teams played to a 1-1 tie at the Loyola Soccer Park in Chicago.

Last Time Out
NU went 2-0 in its trip to Florida with wins over UNC Greensboro and host Florida Atlantic on Friday and Sunday, respectively. On Friday, Northwestern trailed by a goal after one half of play, but senior Shannon Schneeman (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) netted the equalizer and the game-winner to give the Wildcats a 3-2 win over UNC Greensboro. Freshman Sam Greene (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica) put the 'Cats on the board with her first goal as a Wildcat.

On Sunday, the goal by Kelsey Hans (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville) in the 30th minute of the Wildcats' 2-1 win over Florida Atlantic put her in a first-place tie with Coach Erickson for NU's all-time career goals record. Sophomore Alicia Herczeg's (Agoura Hills, Calif./Agoura) tally put the 'Cats on the board and Hans' 29th career goal gave NU a 2-0 lead in the first half. Hans' goal gave her three points for the road trip and a career total of 68 -- five behind Erickson's career mark of 73.

FAU Classic All-Tournament Team
Four Wildcats were named to the all-tournament team of the FAU Classic this past weekend. Schneeman was named the tournament MVP and she was joined on the all-tournament team by Hans, Herczeg and Lauren Johnston (Denver, Colo./Denver East). Hans notched a goal and two assists on the tournament and Schneeman scored two goals against UNC Greensboro.

The Coach Has Comapny
When Kelsey Hans scored her first goal of the year in NU's 2-1 win over Florida Atlantic on Sunday, she placed herself with very elite company in Northwestern's all-time record book. Hans now sits with 29 career goals and joins Coach Erickson for first place on NU's all-time goals list. With four points this season and 69 for her career, Hans is four points behind Erickson's all-time mark of 73.

'Cats Finding the Target
NU has been very economical with its shot opportunities through the early stages of the 2007 season. The Wildcats have taken 45 shots through four games this season and 24 of them have been on goal -- good for a .533 SOG percentage. The 'Cats are averaging 11.2 shots per game and have six goals as a team.
