KENOSHA, Wis. -- Northwestern wrapped up Camp Kenosha with "Veteran's Day," a practice to focus on newcomers and those currently on the second and third teams. All first-teamers and selected veterans wore helmets and shorts while all freshmen and those vying for starting positions sported shells.
After a full-pad morning session, veterans received the chance in the evening for an hour-and-a-half to take some of the younger players under their wing with some individual direction while calling some plays in the huddle and during 7-on-7 drills.
Field conditions at UW-Parkside and other circumstances have cut Camp Kenosha a day short. Instead of practicing once more Tuesday morning at UW-Parkside, the 'Cats will load up the bus and head back to Evanston Tuesday morning. They will hold a closed practice at 3 p.m.
MEDIA REMINDER: NU's Football Media Day is Thursday, Aug. 23. A luncheon with Coach Fitzgerald begins at 1:45 p.m. in the Stadium Club (seventh floor, Ryan Field press box elevator). At approximately 3 p.m., NU will take its 2007 team and position group photos and then interviews with players will follow.
