EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern head football coach Pat Fitzgerald, along with 2-year-old son Jack, participated in the annual Evanston Fourth of July Parade celebrating the nation's birthday. The 86th edition of Evanston's July Fourth Parade chose the theme "Good Time Summertime" this year and was reflected by the tremendous turnout all along the parade's route.
"The support that the families and business of Evanston community give Northwestern is invaluable," noted Coach Fitzgerald. "Any time that we can return the support that 'Cat fans give us is an opportunity that I love to be a part of."
Coach Fitzgerald and Jack traveled in style at the parade in a convertible donated by Fields Jeep. Having enjoyed being part of the parade, Jack decided he would rather be a parade spectator and joined family members about halfway through the parade route. However, coach Fitzgerald was not alone for the rest of the parade. Members of Northwestern's athletic department accompanied Fitzgerald throughout the day, passing out bubbles and hand fans to promote the upcoming football season.
In addition to the parade activities, members of the community could sign-up for a chance to win Wildcat football tickets at Evanston area parks as well as at Let's Tailgate during the parade.
Wildcat football season tickets are now available and can be purchased by calling 847.491.CATS or by visiting NUsports.com. Single game tickets go on sale Monday, July 23.
