EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern University announced its 2007 women's soccer schedule today, which begins with four games on the road against Drake, Nebraska, UNC Greensboro and Florida Atlantic. The contests against both UNCG and FAU are being played in Boca Raton, Fla.
Five consecutive home games then follow the trip, as the Wildcats take on Loyola (Chicago), Pennsylvania, Colgate, St. Francis and Wright State from Sept. 12 through Sept. 23.
NU's Big Ten Conference schedule opens Sept. 28 with games at Indiana and Purdue. Next on the 'Cats slate is a trip home to face Ohio State and Penn State, then the team will once again hit the road for a three-game set with Illinois, Michigan and Michigan State.
The season closes with home matches against Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin.
The Wildcats' lone exhibition game will be held at DePaul on Aug. 25.
"We are very pleased with the competitive nature of our schedule. We play some very good out-of-region teams from great conferences and should head into the Big Ten season incredibly prepared from the challenges it will present," said coach Stephanie Erickson. "We are also looking forward to our home season in our new stadium."
Almost one-third of NU's scheduled games will come against teams that competed in last year's NCAA tournament, including games against Illinois and Penn State, which both advanced to the round of 16. The 2007 Big Ten Tournament is being hosted by Minnesota from Nov. 8 through 11.
