EVANSTON, Ill. -- Sophomore Erin Dyer (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week for the first time in her career after hitting three home runs in a doubleheader sweep of No. 14 DePaul on Thursday. The award gives Northwestern 10 conference weekly accolades this season, tying its own school record set last year.

Dyer batted .500 in the series with all three hits leaving the ballpark. In the first game, Dyer hit two solo shots to give the Wildcats a 3-0 victory. Both homers came off Blue Demon senior Tracie Adix, who entered the game ranked sixth in the nation with a 0.76 ERA. In game two, Dyer clobbered a two-run dinger to account for the winning margin in a 7-4 triumph.

Dyer is the sixth different Wildcat to be honored by the conference office this season. Senior Garland Cooper (Mission Viejo, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic), sophomore Tammy Williams (Roscoe, Mo./Osceola) and freshman Nicole Pauly (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) all have won Player of the Week nods this year (Williams has won twice), while Eileen Canney (Paradise, Calif./Paradise) and Lauren Delaney (Jefferson City, Mo./Helias) have combined for five Pitcher of the Week accolades.

Northwestern doubled Ohio State's total of five weekly awards this year, which ranked second in the conference.
