EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern has swept the Big Ten's weekly awards, with senior Eileen Canney (Paradise, Calif./Paradise) earning Pitcher of the Week honors while sophomore Tammy Williams (Roscoe, Mo./Osceola) picked up the Player of the Week accolade.

The pair helped the No. 7 Wildcats to a perfect 4-0 record at the Tiger Invitational, winning every single game by run-rule.

Williams was 10-for-14 (.714) on the weekend, scoring 11 times in the four games to go along with five RBIs, a double and two home runs. She now has scored 19 runs in NU's last nine games, averaging more than 2.0 runs per game over that span. She currently leads the team with a .538 batting average and an .888 slugging percentage.

Canney tossed a pair of one-hit shutouts to give her 33 shutouts for her career, tied with Cathy Tawse (1983-86) for third on Northwestern's all-time list. Canney fanned 12 batters in a 9-0, six-inning win over Western Illinois Friday before striking out nine and allowing just a bunt single in a 10-0, five-inning win against Big XII foe and tournament host Missouri.

Northwestern returns to action tonight, Tuesday, March 20, with a doubleheader at Saint Louis beginning at 5 p.m. CT.
