'Cats Start Four-Match Homestand Against No. 4 Mississippi

EVANSTON, Ill. -- After a 4-3 win over Harvard in their first match away from the Combe Tennis Center, the 38th-ranked Wildcats start a four-match homestand by hosting the fourth-ranked Mississippi Rebels at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The 'Cats shut out Arkansas in their last home match on Feb. 2.

"Ole Miss is one of the very best teams in the nation and a legitimate contender for the NCAA title," head coach Paul Torricelli said. "They will present a major challenge for us and I know our guys are very excited about the opportunity."

Senior Willy Lock (Lima, Peru/Markham College) took a three-setter over Harvard's 93rd-ranked Chris Clayton to give the Wildcats a 4-3 win over the Crimson Friday night. The 40th-ranked 'Cats won the doubles point and freshman Alex Sanborn (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid) and senior Christian Tempke (Wentorf, Germany/Gymnasium LohbrÜgge) won singles matches before Lock won the clincher.

The Wildcats captured the doubles points with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. The 27th-ranked pair of Lock and Matt Christian (Troy, Mich./Brother Rice) needed a tiebreaker to capture their match over Harvard's Michael Hayes and Ashwin Kumar, 9-8 (4).

Scouting the Rebels
Mississippi is a perfect 6-0 with wins over 74th-ranked UAB and 52nd-ranked Mississippi State highlighting their schedule. No. 40 Erling Tveit is 4-0 at No. 1 singles and Eric Claesson is 4-0 at No. 2. In doubles, the pair of Claesson and Tveit are 5-0 at No. 1.

Northwestern Notes
• The doubles pair of Marc Dwyer (Peachtree City, Ga./Univ. of Nebraska-Independent Study H.S.) and Sanborn have posted a 4-2 doubles record in dual play. They are 3-2 at No. 2 and 1-0 at No. 3.

• Lock, Sanborn and Tempke are enjoying two-match winning streaks heading into Wednesday's contest against Mississippi.

• The Wildcats are 5-3 in duals this season with wins over No. 58 Depaul, Ball State, No. 48 San Diego, No. 47 Arkansas and Harvard.
