EAST LANSING, Mich. - Northwestern suffered a 66-45 defeat Wednesday night at the Breslin Center in East Lansing, Mich., to the Michigan State Spartans. Vince Scott scored 11 points to lead the Wildcats.

The loss moves Northwestern to 10-6 and 0-3 in the Big Ten while Michigan State moves to 14-2 and 1-2.

Jeff Ryan added eight points off the bench for NU while fellow freshman Kevin Coble added seven before leaving the game in the second half.

MSU's Marquise Gray came off the bench to score 16 points and didn't miss a shot in 26 minutes.

Gray was 7-for-7 from the field and 2-for-2 at the line for the Spartans. He scored just 13 points in Michigan State's losses last week at Iowa and Indiana.

Despite just 1-for-4 shooting in the first half, Drew Neitzel had 18 points for the Spartans to lead all scorers and reach double-figures for the 17th game in a row.

The Spartans trailed 5-2 when the 6-foot-8 Gray got the first of his five dunks. Michigan State surged from there and built a 32-22 halftime lead, thanks largely to a 21-4 edge in rebounds.

The final rebounding advantage was 37-13, with Drew Naymick grabbing six boards and four other players collecting five.
