EVANSTON, Ill. -- For the 25th time, Northwestern volleyball will throw open the doors of Welsh-Ryan Arena and welcome a trio of teams to the court this weekend for the Wildcat Classic.

For the silver anniversary of the Classic, three solid opponents are making their way to Evanston. The Wildcats open at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, against Eastern Illinois (5-2) before facing Pittsburgh (9-2) at 7 p.m. Friday night. The marquee matchup of the tournament features the host Wildcats against No. 24 Arizona at 7 p.m. Saturday night, Sept. 16.

Follow all of the live action via Gametracker at the Wildcat Classic Web page. Also, all of Northwestern's matches will be streamed LIVE on NUsports.com via CSTV Online's All-Access. Click the audio/video tab on NUsports.com to launch the player.

The Wildcat Classic has gone through several name changes over the years (at one point it was known as the NU Academic Classic), and there were five seasons it was not held, but for the most part it has been a staple of the Northwestern season. The Wildcats have faced 53 different opponents in the event, holding a 44-22 record (.667).

NU attracts the best of college volleyball to Welsh-Ryan for the Classic, with the most frequent visitor being perennial Big XII power Texas (four appearances). SEC big shots Tennessee (three) and Florida (tied with two) have the second- and third-most appearances, respectively.

Northwestern is coming off a 1-2 mark at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii, where it faced a pair of top-10 ranked opponents in No. 8 Stanford and No. 9 Hawaii. The Wildcats held tight with the Cardinal throughout a sweep, and controlled most of the match against the Wahine, though NU eventually fell in four.

Freshman libero Kate Nobilio (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) has made both All-Tourney teams at NU's first two nonconference tournaments of the year, and set a school four-game match record with 34 digs at No. 9 Hawaii. She currently ranks first in the Big Ten with 5.19 digs per game.
