EVANSTON, Ill.-- Northwestern head coach Stephanie Erickson is featured this week as part of the Big Ten's 25th anniversary celebration of women's championships in the conference. Erickson competed in the Big Ten from 1994-97 as a member of the Wildcats and still holds Northwestern career records in goals and points. She is being recognized in the first feature of this year-long celebration for her return to her alma mater.

During the 2006-07 season, the Big Ten Conference will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Big Ten Women's Championships. From August 15, 2006 to July 2007, the conference will be sharing some of the many stories of student-athletes, teams, coaches and administrators who have made the past 25 years a success and have set the stage for "the story to continue."

Women participated in several sports for up to 10 years before the Big Ten and NCAA officially sanctioned championships in the 1981-82 academic year. Today, the Big Ten sponsors 13 women's championships.
