EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Wildcats got a brief reprieve from practicing in pads today, as they focused more on technique and repetitions on the 10th day of spring drills. NUsports.com talked with senior Terrell Jordan (Clarkston, Ga./Tucker) about sitting out last year and being another option to run the ball.

NUsports.com: How does it feel to be back playing football after sitting out the entire 2005 season?
Jordan: It feels really good. It feels like I never left. It's just back to work.

NUsports.com: With your return, what are some of the key dimensions you're going to add to this year's team?
Jordan: I hope to bring more enthusiasm to the team. I am just trying to add to the positive qualities that the team already has.

NUsports.com: Everyone wants to know how your leg is feeling and if you're playing at 100 percent?
Jordan: My leg feels pretty good. I'd say I'm at about 90 percent right now. I'm not doing as much intense rehab because of the strain of going through practices, but once spring ends, I'll start up on more rehab. Hopefully by August, I'll be 100 percent.

NUsports.com: Coach Walker has indicated we may see more two-back sets this fall. What are your thoughts about that?
Jordan: I think it would be great to mix it up. It will be very hard for defenses to key in on one player. It would allow us to share the load with two running backs and three receivers; we're going to have a balanced attack.

NUsports.com: What was the toughest part about sitting out the 2005 season?
Jordan: It was painful because I had such high expectations going in. It was my true senior season and I was anxious to see what the Lord had in store for me. It was good, though, because I got to spend a lot of time with my new child and my wife. It's all about being patient.

Practice Notes:
• Northwestern returns to full pads for a 4 p.m. practice on Thursday. The Wildcats will then scrimmage at 10 a.m. Saturday, weather permitting at Ryan Field. If the 'Cats are unable to practice in Ryan, they will have a 9 a.m. scrimmage on the FieldTurf practice field.
• Several coaches from North Carolina State have been visiting the practice field this week, digesting the Wildcats' spread offense.
