Postgame Notes
NU vs. Minnesota
March 4, 2006
Northwestern has now won five in a row over Minnesota and swept a two-game season series from the Gophers for the first time since the 1976 season. NOTE: NU swept Minnesota in 1986, winning one of those games by forfeit.
With 20 points, Vedran Vukusic moved into fourth place on NU's all-time scoring list. He passes Kevin Rankin (1,575; 1990-94) and is eight points away from passing Jim Stack (1,583; 1978-93) for third all-time.
Vukusic's 20 points gives him 14 games this season with 20 or more points and has led the 'Cats in scoring 20 times this season, two away from tying the record of 22 games held by Evan Eschmeyer in 1998-99.
NU hit 15-of-16 free throws (93.8 percent), its highest free throw shooting performance of the year and the third-highest in the Bill Carmody era.
With two steals, Mohamed Hachad moved into sole possession of third place on NU's all-time steals list with 163.
The Wildcats are now 12-2 this season when leading at the half and 2-12 when trailing.
The Wildcats turned the ball over just three times in the second half and eight times overall-marking the 36th time NU has turned the ball over nine or fewer times in the Bill Carmody era. They are 23-13 in those games.
