Vedran Vukusic scored a team-high 23 points, marking the 17th time this season he has led the Wildcats in scoring. He is five away from tying the modern day record held by Evan Eschmeyer who led NU in scoring 22 times during the 1998-99 season. He now has 1,463 career points, still seventh on the all-time list.
Vukusic finished 3-of-5 from behind the arc, marking the 10th time this season and the 31st time in his career he has hit three or more in a game.
Vukusic has now made a team-best 79-consecutive starts dating to the start of the 2003-04 season.
Mohamed Hachad posted double-figures for the fifth straight game with 12 points. He is averaging 15.6 ppg over his last five games.
Bernard Coté had his best game offensively in Big Ten play, recording 10 points, 2 assists and one steal. He was 2-of-3 from three-point range.
Northwestern was hosting a Final Four participant in consecutive home games. They hosted No. 7 Illinois back on Jan. 21.
Northwestern recorded season-highs in free throws made (22) and attempts (30).
The 77 points by Michigan State were the most given up this season by the Wildcats.
