TULSA, Okla. -- Willy Lock (Lima, Peru/Markham College) and Matt Christian (Troy, Mich./Brother Rice) fell in the second round of the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championships Friday fallling to Georgia's Luis Flores and John Isner, 9-7. The match stayed on serve until the score reached 7-7.
As a team, Georgia finished 2006 No. 2 in the final ITA rankings.
Lock and Christian won three matches in the qualifying draw to gain entry into the main draw. They won their first round match over Eric Molner and David North from Georgia Tech, 8-6. This tournament was the first time Lock and Christian played together competitively.
"They had an impressive tournament, especially for never having played together," assistant coach Nick Carless said. It should show them they can play with anybody. This run should definitely give them confidence for the rest of the fall and into the dual season."
Northwestern's next event on the fall schedule, the ITA Midwest Regional Championships, begin Oct. 19 in Minneapolis.
