Northwestern Ranked No. 8 in Opening CSCAA Coaches Poll

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern has earned a No. 8 ranking in the first College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) dual meet poll, the highest ranking in a preseason poll in program history.

Northwestern earned 174 points in the poll, two more than No. 9 Georgia and seven less than No. 7 USC. Auburn received 7-of-8 first-place votes to earn the top spot in the poll with 239 points.

The Wildcats are coming off three-consecutive top-11 finishes at the NCAA Championships, and return a combined 53 All-America honors including two-time NCAA 100 backstroke champion Matt Grevers (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest).

Northwestern concluded last season's poll at No. 15 before finishing 10th at the NCAA Championships.
