Northwestern has now won four in a row against Purdue and five of the last six. The four-consecutive wins equals the longest winning streak ever against the Boilers.
Northwestern had two players score 20 points for the first time since Dec. 27, 2003 when Vedran Vukusic and Jitim Young scored 26 and 20, respectively in an 80-75 loss to Rutgers in El Paso, Texas.
Tim Doyle established a career-high with 20 points on 8-of-11 from the floor. The junior was 2-of-3 from behind the arc to go along with five assists, four rebounds and two steals. He also played a career-high 39 minutes.
Vedran Vukusic equaled his season-best with 28 points on 9-of-13 shooting. He also hit two from downtown and 8-of-9 from behind the arc and had three steals. Vukusic also had 28 in the win over Charlotte (11/14/05) at the BCA Invitational in Laramie, Wyo. had 20 points at halftime.
Vukusic has led the team in scoring in 11-of-12 games this year and is averaging a Big Ten-best 22.3 points per game.
With his 28 points, Vukusic jumped up two more spots on Northwestern's all-time scoring list and is tied for 10th with the legendary Joe Ruklick (1956-59; 1,315). Vukusic also passed Dale Kelly (1967-70; 1,310) who is now 12th all-time.
The 'Cats are giving up just 44.5 points per game and scoring 65.2 points (+20.75) over their current four-game winning streak.
Head coach Bill Carmody has now won his last three conference home openers.
The 'Cats are now 6-0 when shooting 45 percent or better, 7-1 when they shoot better than their opponent, 7-1 when they make and attempt more free throws and 7-1 when they score at least 60 points.
Craig Moore tied his season-best with six assists to compliment eight points and three steals. Moore now has 29 assists and only seven turnovers this season.
Sterling Williams had a season-high with seven rebounds.
Northwestern turned 19 Purdue turnovers into 24 points.
