Vedran Vukusic made his team-high 76th-consecutive start dating to the start of the 2003-04 season.

Mohamed Hachad notched his eighth double-figure scoring game of the season with 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting. He also made his first start since the Dec. 23 DePauw game after an appendectomy Dec. 28.

• Northwestern's defense held Illinois to 58 points, 14 below its season scoring average, and held James Augustine (14.2 ppg) to just seven points.

• Freshman Sterling Williams notched his third double-figure scoring game of the season with 10 points and chipped in with six rebounds and two steals.

• Illinois led by as much as 26 and led by 19 with 7:51 left before Northwestern clawed its way back with a 14-5 run to cut it to a 10-point lead with 1:37 to go.

• Today was the 155th meeting between the two schools. The Illini have won the last five.

• Today's game was before a sellout crowd of 8,117.

• Illinois and Northwestern will meet again this year at 7 p.m., Feb. 15 in Champaign.
