No. 7 Illinois at Northwestern
Vedran Vukusic made his team-high 76th-consecutive start dating to the start of the 2003-04 season.
Mohamed Hachad notched his eighth double-figure scoring game of the season with 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting. He also made his first start since the Dec. 23 DePauw game after an appendectomy Dec. 28.
Northwestern's defense held Illinois to 58 points, 14 below its season scoring average, and held James Augustine (14.2 ppg) to just seven points.
Freshman Sterling Williams notched his third double-figure scoring game of the season with 10 points and chipped in with six rebounds and two steals.
Illinois led by as much as 26 and led by 19 with 7:51 left before Northwestern clawed its way back with a 14-5 run to cut it to a 10-point lead with 1:37 to go.
Today was the 155th meeting between the two schools. The Illini have won the last five.
Today's game was before a sellout crowd of 8,117.
Illinois and Northwestern will meet again this year at 7 p.m., Feb. 15 in Champaign.
