EVANSTON, Ill.-Northwestern seeks its third straight win over Michigan at 7 p.m. CT Wednesday when the two teams square off in what is a pivotal game for both teams in the Big Ten standings. Northwestern is aiming to improve to 3-2 in the Big Ten while the Wolverines enter Wednesday's contest with a 1-2 mark in league play.
NU, which started the Big Ten season with two victories for the first time in 23 years, seeks to get back on track after losses last week to Penn State and No. 21 Wisconsin. Michigan has road defeats at No. 9 Indiana and No. 7 Illinois with a home win against Purdue in between.
Wednesday is the 150th meeting between the two schools. Michigan leads the all-time series 97-52 but the 'Cats have won the last two. NU also has won two of the last four in Ann Arbor, last winning there in 2002, 58-54.
Vedran Vukusic, who leads all Big Ten players with 21.3 ppg, averaged 21.0 points in three games vs. Michigan last season. The Wolverines are led by Daniel Horton's 16.0 ppg.
