EVANSTON, Ill. -- Off to a 2-1 start, Northwestern's men's tennis team resumes action at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18 when it hosts DePaul at the Combe Tennis Center.

The Wildcats stand at a perfect 16-0 all-time versus DePaul, with their last meeting a 5-2 Northwestern victory on January 15, 2005, at the Combe Tennis Center. Northwestern swept the doubles competition in the dual and won four of the six singles matches to take the win.

Northwestern enters this match after going 1-1 during its first road trip of the season last weekend. The 'Cats fell to No. 32 Louisville Friday, 5-2, before rallying to beat Ball State on Sunday, 5-2.

The Wildcats boast six players with two dual-singles wins so far this year, led by junior Christian Tempke (Wentorf, Germany/Gymnasium Lohbrügge) who is 2-1 at No. 1 singles, while compiling an 8-5 overall record.

Junior Willy Lock (Lima, Peru/Markham College) has received the nod at the No. 2 position in all three duals this season, posting a 2-1 record. Lock is 7-4 overall this year.

Freshman Marc Dwyer (Peachtree City, Ga./University of Nebraska-Independent Study H.S.) has been impressive throughout his rookie season, and has played No. 3 singles for the Wildcats thus far. Dwyer is 2-1 in dual meets, 8-4 overall.

Northwestern has shared one opponent with the Blue Demons this season, as both teams have faced, and beaten, Illinois-Chicago. Northwestern topped UIC 7-0 in its season opener on January 8, while DePaul edged the Flames 4-3 on January 13.

DePaul enters the dual with a 1-1 record after being swept by Western Michigan Sunday.

The Blue Demons are led by junior George Wang and sophomore Gabe Inchauste this season. Inchauste has compiled a 5-2 singles record while Wang stands at 3-4.

In doubles, DePaul's George Wang and Gerald Huffman are tied with William Wang and Jack Komar for a team-high two doubles wins this season.

"NU-DePaul is a traditional early season match that both teams really look forward to," head coach Paul Torricelli said. "It's nice to have another quality opponent in Chicago and the Blue Demons always play tough."

Following the DePaul dual, Northwestern returns to action at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 versus No. 26 Notre Dame at the Combe Tennis Center.
