
Wildcats Fall to Louisville, 5-2

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Northwestern's men's tennis team fell to No. 32 Louisville Friday, 5-2. Junior Christian Tempke (Wentorf, Germany/Gymnasium Lohbrügge) notched a win at the No. 1 singles position while Matt Christian (Troy, Mich./Brother Rice) earned a win at the No. 5 singles spot for the Wildcats.
After the Cardinals took the doubles point, Tempke started the 'Cats out on the right note in singles play, topping the Cardinals' Damar Johnson 6-1, 7-6. With the win, Tempke improves his record to 8-4 on the season, 2-0 in doubles competition.
After suffering setbacks at the No. 2 through No. 4 singles positions, Christian came through with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Louisville's Robert Rotaru at No. 5 singles. Christian evens his record at 5-5 this year and earns his first dual win of the season.
With the loss, Northwestern falls to 1-1 on the season. The Wildcats return to action at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15 at Ball State.
