Northwestern Opens 2005-06 Season at Tom Fallon Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's men's tennis team begins the 2005-06 season at the Tom Fallon Invitational, held in Notre Dame, Ind., Sept. 23-25.
Northwestern's Matt Christian (Troy, Mich./Brother Rice), Marc Dwyer (Peachtree City, Ga./University of Nebraska-Independent Study High School), Alexey Evstratenkov (Moscow, Russia/Moscow International Gymnasia), Andrew Hoffman (Freemont, Neb./Fremont) and Adam Schaechterle (Oconomowoc, Wis./Kettle Moraine) will compete in the tournament.
Eight teams are set to participate in the 2005 invitational--Army, Ball State, Drake, Michigan, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Purdue and Wisconsin. The schedule of events is listed below.
Northwestern head coach Paul Torricelli has a number of key players returning from the 2004-05 NCAA Tournament team.
Junior Willy Lock (Lima, Peru/Markham College), who posted a team-best 25-10 record last season, and Christian Tempke (Wentorf, Germany/Gymnasium LohbrÜgge), who is ranked No. 125 in the ITA's 2005-06 preseason rankings, return along with Christian and Schaechterle.
Lock and Tempke were scheduled to participate in the Baylor Invitational this weekend, but the event was canceled as a precaution for Hurricane Rita.

Friday, Sept. 23
8:30 a.m. (singles only) -- Notre Dame vs. Michigan; Purdue vs. Wisconsin
10:15 a.m. (singles only) -- Northwestern/Notre Dame vs. Ball State; Drake vs. Army
Noon (singles only) -- Notre Dame vs. Purdue; Michigan vs. Wisconsin
1:45 p.m. (singles only) -- Ball State vs. Drake; Northwestern vs. Army
4:00 p.m. (doubles only) -- Notre Dame vs. Michigan; Wisconsin vs. Army; Drake vs. Northwestern; Purdue vs. Ball State
Saturday, Sept. 24
8:30 a.m. (singles only) -- Notre Dame vs. Drake; Michigan vs. Northwestern/Notre Dame
10:15 a.m. (singles only) -- Purdue vs. Ball State; Army vs. Wisconsin
