KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Northwestern defeated Western Michigan, 3-0, in an exhibition Sunday at the WMU Soccer Complex.

The Wildcats scored all three goals in the second half, including a pair of strikes a minute apart. Freshman Jeanette Lorme got the scoring started, Kelsey Hans converted on a penalty kick in the 66th minute after Krystal Patterson was fouled in the goalbox, and shortly afterward Tabitha Lowey closed out the scoring. NU had an 18-8 advantage in shots over the Broncos.

NU opens the regular season this weekend with a pair of games in Milwaukee. The 'Cats will be part of a tournament co-hosted by Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Marquette, and as a result will face the uncommon situation of playing UWM on Marquette's home field (Friday at 6 p.m.) and Marquette on UWM's home field (Sunday at noon).
