KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Northwestern defeated Western Michigan, 3-0, in an exhibition Sunday at the WMU Soccer Complex.
The Wildcats scored all three goals in the second half, including a pair of strikes a minute apart. Freshman Jeanette Lorme got the scoring started, Kelsey Hans converted on a penalty kick in the 66th minute after Krystal Patterson was fouled in the goalbox, and shortly afterward Tabitha Lowey closed out the scoring. NU opens the regular season this weekend with a pair of games in Milwaukee. The 'Cats will be part of a tournament co-hosted by Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Marquette, and as a result will face the uncommon situation of playing UWM on Marquette's home field (Friday at 6 p.m.) and Marquette on UWM's home field (Sunday at noon).
