EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern evened its conference mark to 3-3 Saturday by handing Minnesota its second-consecutive loss, 4-3. The Wildcats (8-10, 3-3) won the doubles point and took three of six singles matches for their second-consecutive win.
Sophomore Willy Lock (Lima, Peru/Markham College) notched his 20th win overall and 10th dual victory by ousting Minnesota's Schwark in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
Lock teamed with fellow-sophomore Christian Tempke (Wentorf, Germany/Lohbrugge) for their second win in as many matches at No. 3 doubles. NU's top doubles team -- seniors Tommy Hanus (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) and Chuck Perrin (Atlanta, Ga./The Walker School) -- secured the doubles point for the `Cats with an 8-5 win. The duo has won four straight.
Perrin tacked on a singles win at No. 3 -- his third win in his last four matches.
Sophomore Matt Christian (Troy, Mich./Brother Rice) recorded a key, straight-set victory at the No. 6 singles slot to help edge the `Cats past the Golden Gophers, 4-3.
