EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Big Ten Conference announced Wednesday that Northwestern's Oct. 29 homecoming game versus Michigan will be televised by ESPN or ESPN2 in primetime -- either 6 or 6:45 p.m. The final decision on which of the ESPN networks will carry the game will be made at least 12 days prior to kickoff.
Last year's Northwestern-Ohio State game, carried by ESPN2 in prime time, was the most-watched college football game on "The Deuce" since the cable station's inception. Another prime time home game vs. Ohio State in 2002 was one of the most-watched college football contests on ESPN2, as well.
This is the second night game between Michigan and Northwestern. In their only previous meeting under the lights, the Wolverines beat the Wildcats 12-6 on Oct. 17, 1998.
Northwestern also announced that its first two nonconference home games -- versus Ohio and Northern Illinois -- will be played at 1 p.m. CT unless either or both contests are televised. The Wildcats' Sept. 17 game at Arizona State will kick off at 7 p.m. (9 p.m. CT).
