ATHENS, Ohio - Third-ranked Northwestern scored 15 of the first 16 goals Saturday -- including the first just 19 seconds into the contest -- en route to a 16-3 victory over Ohio at the Bobcats' Pruitt Field. The game was the American Lacrosse Conference opener for both teams.

Aly Josephs and Lindsey Munday each scored four times for the Wildcats, who improved to 5-0 with the victory. Caitlin Link, Dana Dobbie and Shannon Hadaway tallied single goals for the Bobcats (0-3).

Munday opened the scoring on a pass from Kristen Kjellman just 19 seconds in the contest, then Josephs tallied her first from Kjellman less than two minutes later.

"It was a goal of ours to get out quickly," said NU head coach Kelly Amonte Hiller. "We knew this team would fight for everything, and so we wanted to come out and set the tone."

The Wildcat lead reached 5-0 before Ohio was able to get on the board, as Link took a pass from Dobbie and converted with 12:33 to play.

However, Northwestern found the net five more times before intermission to make the score 10-1, then extended the run with the first five goals of the second half.

"I thought draws were a big factor in this game," said Amonte Hiller. "Ohio has one of the best draw control people in the country in Dobbie, and we really focused on keeping her out of the picture. Courtney Koester did a great job on them today."

In addition to the big games from Josephs and Munday, Northwestern got three goals and an assist from Sarah Albrecht. A total of 10 different players put points on the board; NU has scored 75 goals in its last four games.

"I feel like we are really hitting our stride offensively," said Amonte Hiller. "The offense has really come together the last few games, making us a difficult team to stop."

NU will be back in action next Saturday, hosting Penn in its first home game of the 2005 season. The game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. at the Thomas Athletic Complex.
