EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern heads to No. 11 Pepperdine Wednesday, March 23 to battle the streaking Waves, who have won their last five matches.

Wednesday's match will be the first competition for the Wildcats since falling, 4-3, to Tulane on March 5.

Pepperdine has shot up in the rankings the past couple of weeks from No. 16 to No. 11 thanks to its five-match winning streak over quality programs including TCU, Miami (Fla.) and California. The Waves are powered by junior Pedro Rico, who is the No. 17 singles player in the nation. Rico also boasts the No. 16 doubles ranking alongside Scott Doerner.

For the Wildcats, sophomore Christian Tempke (Wentorf, Germany/Lohbrugge) has a steak of his own, winning his last four singles matches and five of his last seven. Tempke is 9-8 overall on the year, having most recently downed Jacobo Hernandez 1-6, 6-4, 6-1.

Classmate Willy Lock (Lima, Peru/Markham College) earned his team-leading 10th dual victory of the year (10-3) against Tulane with a tough win at No. 4 that featured two tiebreakers. Lock holds a team-best 16-7 overall record.

Following Wednesday's match, Northwestern will face San Diego Friday, March 25.
