EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern will send six student-athletes to the NCAA Championships March 24-26 in Minneapolis, Minn. The sextet will compete in 14 individual events and four relays, with several Wildcats having good shots at NU's first NCAA Championship since 1958.

Senior Matt Wever (Boise, Idaho/Boise); junior Brian Davis (Issaquah, Wash./Issaquah); sophomores Mike Alexandrov (Champaign, Ill./Centennial) and Matt Grevers (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest); and freshmen Kyle Bubolz (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) and David Kormushoff (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) comprise the Wildcats' NCAA squad.

Alexandrov, Bubolz, Davis and Grevers will all swim in three individual events each while Wever and Kormushoff will both compete in a single event. The group will also form Northwestern's 200 and 400 free relays as well as the 200 and 400 medley relays.

Grevers will compete as the second seed in the 100 back, the fourth seed in the 50 free and the sixth seed in the 100 free. His best individual finish last season came with a sixth-place finish in the 100 back. He concluded the 2004 NCAA Championships as a seven-time All-American.

Grevers set Conference records in all three of his individual events at the Big Ten Championships this year. He also will swim in all four relays for the Wildcats, giving him seven total events at the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive year.

Alexandrov, who earned five All-America honors in 2004, also has three top-10 seeds at this year's Championships. He is the fourth seed in the 200 IM, the sixth seed in the 100 breast and the ninth seed in the 200 breast. He also will swim the 200 free relay along with the 200 and 400 medley relays.

Bubolz enters his first NCAA Championships meet as the third seed in the 100 fly. His time of 46.46 in the event at the Conference Championships set a Big Ten record. He will also compete in the 50 free (15th seed) and the 100 free (16th seed) as well as the 200 free relay and the 200 and 400 medley relays.

Davis will compete in three distance events, entering as the 19th seed in the 500 free, the 28th seed in the 400 IM and the 31st seed in the 1650 free.

Wever will swim in the 200 free individually along with the 400 medley relay.

Kormushoff is entered in the 100 fly and also the 200 free relay.

Wever or Kormushoff also will join the 200 medley relay squad for the NCAA Championships.

NU's 200 free relay enters the meet as the third seed while the 400 free and 400 medley relay are both four seeds. The 200 medley squad is the fifth seed.

The 200 free and 400 medley relays set Conference records while the 200 medley and the 400 free relays established school benchmarks at the Big Ten Championships this season.
